MET. MONDAY. MAY.

Coincidentally, I wore this to work because it was giving me serious Monday vibes.

First Monday of the month of May is not a regular day for the fashion lovers and style enthusiasts. Hence why Monday night marked one of the world’s biggest nights of fashion which is the Metropolitan Museum of Arts Costume Institute Benefit. Theme this year: Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. And dear readers’ stars served up their most iconic looks for the annual Met Gala in New York City. All this is in favor of raising money for the Museum’s custome wing.

If you have not watched the Met gala from one of your favorite stars on social media due to the no phone policy, or seen it on blogs because it is demurly off limits to press, then you can definitely watch it via livestream on Youtube. VOGUE.com or E! And if all that fails you. Pearls on the Scene has wrapped up a few looks that were liked by fashion lovers and critics.

Yemi: Founder Stylist of Empress Styling chose Teyena Taylor as her best says “there’s freedom of expression, audacity, color coordination, style and audacity. I agree!

While the cost of attending the fashion’s biggest night increased in 2024, the price of tickets to this year’s gala is still rumoured at $75,000 for a table to $350,000. All you have to do is be invited to attend and pray Anna Wintour (Vogue Editor in Chief) accepts you on the guest list. No, no, no, tickets aren’t available for purchase by the general public, you and I.

So, Pearls On the Scene featured some friends on fashion and style to give an input on this year’s outfit. We only tried to go for the best ones because of positive energy rule only. Thank you for being part of this Met Gala article. This is for us all.

There are people who this is a lifestyle for them, from a historic point of view, and there are others who love this for the sake of style. Some of the influencers and stars we hoped to see didn’t make it but that doesn’t mean they are left out of the conversation rather we include and applaud them because we understand their impact and the value they’ve added to modern dandyism. Yes, I am talking about Fenzworth Bently, the staple of gentleman in the music industry depite not being associated with fashion and the likes. Then Wisdom Kaye, who has put this theme on TikTok space while his counterparts were doing old money aesthetics.

And to top it all, I wanted to see Erykah Badu in her element. This is someone that has been steady on this lane. She has never been caught undandied (that’s a word I hope). But again, just because these people were not at the METs 2025, doesn’t erase their effort rather it brings light to what they have always believed it.

Noteable Mentions from the Red Carpet:

Those who came in with colors came in bold, unapologetic, and true. Those who came in the monotone colors of white and black kept it classy to the tune of time.

Cheers to the soft life  🥂
