Seeing the trend of Studio ghibli Inc. art, making rounds on every social media platform getting people excited was short-lived (for me) but not after seeing how lovely i look as a character of such art. Though I am all for letting people enjoy things, it still didn’t stop me from pondering on the future and what AI is becoming.
First, Studio Ghibli, for those who are still not in the know or those who just prompt their chatgpt based on the trend, here is an overview from Wikipedia for simplicity.
Studio Ghibli, Inc. is a Japanese animation studio based in Koganei, Tokyo. It has a strong presence in the animation industry and has expanded its portfolio to include various media such as short subjects, television commercials, and television films.
Remember Ponyo, Kikis Delivery Service, and Spirited Away (the most popular Ghibli production, which won the 75th Academy Award for Best Animated Feature). These are animations that stood out way ahead of time in the animation scene with its unique way of art being presented to the audience and fans.

Anyways, imitation is said to be a form of flattery, but what i pondered on is, how far can we go to protect intellectual property, to safe guard content creation from thefts, imitation and the likes? Yes! Let people enjoy things, but AI has taken a global treasure of years of unique creativity and have dispersed it into the world at the tip of a prompt. Now we all have a studio ghibli version of ourselves. Today is Ghibli, what could it be tomorrow? It could be your own hard work.

I won’t lie. I love my version of ghibli and I am happy I get to see myself projected in such way, but as we work on the new found ways we can use artificial intelligence, are we also working on how we’d feel if our works get dragged into AI and we can’t do anything about it? It’s starting to feel less artificial and more real as we rely on AI for even the simplest task.

To round up, I am quite skeptical about AI. Used in moderation, yes, it’s helpful, but users need to create boundaries before the robots replace us in all aspects of human life.
Also, was this post an opportunity to post my Ghibli version? Definitely, yes. Am I concerned still, yes. 2 things can be wrong, 2 things can also be right. These outfits (white french lace and a cord lace) dating back 20 years plus were sourced from my mother’s. It was passed on to me for years until I could finally wear and style them the way they deserved to be styled. And sister! Did i body this!! 😎
Cheers to the soft life 🥂
