Tell me, dear Unique Pearl,
What have you been watching? Let me add it to my list. As for me, using my spare time to catch up on guilty pleasures such as sleeping, cooking, and watching TV all day long, I’ve stumbled upon nice things to watch.

Firstly, I do complain about Netflix a lot. How it has a wide range of catalogs but nothing to watch. Girl, was I happy when I saw Jeff Goldblum on the screen trailer of the series KAOS, and that alone caught my attention.

KAOS: This is an 8 eposide fantasy series of Greek mythological names and events. Looking at after life, beyond life and gods that control the will and fates of subjects (humans). I’d rate this a 6/10. Why? Because it was quite stretched out to the point that I believe a season 2 will be in the works. I liked it because it was quite colorful, suspenseful, and looked at a different religion altogether. Vero.

UNBREAKABLE KIMMY SCHMIDT: For so long, I’ve been ignoring this series that keeps popping on my recommended watch list. Looking for something light to watch after KAOS, I decided to give it a chance. Was I glad I did. A small town abducted girl grows up in a bunker, only to be free 15 years later. She learns to navigate her new life in the newfound world. With the help of a roommate, landlady, former bunk mate, and employee, she continues to see the positive side of life. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was one of the first original comedy series on Netflix, airing for four seasons on Netflix. I’d give it 8 of 10. It’s a sitcom. I like sitcoms.

GOOD WITCH: Finally, a hallmark series. Folksy tune, cheerful neighborhood, extravagant mayor, and always a love couple, yet to know they’d be in love. The Good Witch, a series recommended by my mother, is a family series that follows a woman, her kids, and her psychic charm. She helps citizens in subtle ways with little to no magic to keep a happy and satisfied community. Of course, some secrets here and there, but nothing heavy to keep you up at night. Yet binge worthy if you are into the calm fictional cities and nostalgic feel of Charmed meets Ghost Whisperer. Good Witch” will take viewers on a new magical journey with Cassie Nightingale. 7 over 10 (but I wish it could just be a movie, and that’s it).

INSPECTOR SUN: Oh my; an enjoyable experience. So, this experience inspired this particular blog. Guys! The cinema in Kaduna (NG), shoprite is just beautiful, classy, organized and well lit. I was awed. Of course, I didn’t know what to think of it, so I was positively surprised.
Anyways, I opted for Inspector Sun as the animation Inside Out 2 wasn’t showing on this particular day. It was a great choice of movie as it displayed the vintage cinematic detectives genre. Inspector Sun and the Curse of the Black Widow is like a cross between Murder on the Orient Express and A Bug’s Life with bonus animation and way more laughs.

Inspector Sun, a proud spider detective in the human world, must solve a murder mystery on board a plane after just being fired from the job. With an assistant jumping spider species, he solves the mystery eventually (trust me, the assistant was his saving grace). Here, we see the lives of insects such as ants, roaches, flies, et al.as they live amongst humans, commit and solve crimes, have fancy dinners and musical numbers as well as just exist. Now I can’t see a fly move and not think of the fly called captain flight or a spider and not see an entire police unit 😅 I’d say a 10 out of 10 for this well thought animation.

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Reruns: I don’t think I can survive without my comfort shows. That’s why annually or so, I go back to my old shows and cosy up a blanket and read lines with them.
- F.R.I.E.N.D.S: the 90s/2000s American sitcom has a special place in my heart. From cassettes to CDs, merch obsession, and now having all seasons to streamon Netflix? Life could apparently be good. With Ross still my favorite character, of course.
- The Office: a more intellectual approach to sitcoms. No cue in laughs. You have to trust your humor for this. Dwight and Angela are constantly at the top of my favorite chain.
- Desperate Housewives; bring back my high-school years where we were so hooked on this, we’d skip class just to catch up on what Solis did and why Susan is annoying. But really, why are these men falling over Susan Myers?
Well, my soft life gang, when bored, switch on a screen. It doesn’t hurt to do nothing but consume something that isn’t 3 mins long or 30 seconds short. Enjoy when we had seasons yearly with more than 20 eposides. Give it up for TV back then with the consistency. At least Only Murders in The Building (OMITB) is back this year with season 4. It’s good to see a TV series matching up the good old days.

Cheers to the soft life 🥂
