The Color Effect.

Remember your Gothic years? The Era of black clothes, black make up, black mood. I liked it, but only for a while. I mean Rihanna was now good girl turn bad, it was for the culture we supported her. πŸ˜‚

Eventually I realized that on days I wear a different color from black, my mood was different and better. On days I feel dull, lazy, and un bothered were days I tilted to black, not intentionally, other days I feel vibrant, energetic, a walking idea bulb, bold, and creative, I find it reflecting in my outfits by having semble of colors or Γ  particular monochrome. I stopped taking colors for granted then.

Now, there are so many tapped-into colors on the fashion and style industry. From clothes to furniture. Mix and match of unimaginable colors. When i mentioned Purple and Green combo, a friend of mine almost died of shock. It was just unfathomable. Wait till she sees orange and blue, pink and red or beige and Grey 🀣. But then these are all a lovely combo.

Now take for instance, the Western culture considers black as the mourning color. True to its color, It gives a very sad vibe unlike white color for mourning in the East Asian countries, that exudes calmness and serenity.

Colors that could change your mood to happy/summertime vibe are mostly in the Pastel categories, sky blue, baby Pink, yellow, Lilac, you get it.

For the “I’m in control” mood, neutral colors at best. Beige, Gray, Mustard, Cream, Chalky Blue.. Get it ?

Now if you were feeling so peng and in control, what color would you likely go for?

β€” Navy blue

β€” Maroon

β€” emerald green

Any color you pick here indicates confidence, control and class. That goes to show you the effect of colors.

Here’s a quick summary of the colors and their meaning.

Pink – feminine, sentimental, romantic, exciting

Green – natural, vitality, prestige, wealth

Orange – fresh, youthful, creative, adventurous

Red – danger, passion, excitement, energy

Blue – communicative, trustworthy, calming, depressed

Purple – royalty, majesty, spiritual, mysterious

White – purity, simplicity, innocence, minimalism

Black – sophisticated, formal, luxurious, sorrowful

Multicolor – United, open, diversity

Yellow – optimistic, cheerful, playful, happy

Not saying Black or dark colors are constantly for dull moods, no. Like Macklmore said “One man’s trash, that’s another man’s come up”. Those colors do make some happy. But majority are prompted by brighter more fun and vivid colors.

In the Era before our forefashionistas, as also seen on screen, you’d notice the brighter and daring the color, the richer you are and of an assigned class, the darker, duller and neutral the color… well you are just poor. 😟
