-So Shukrah, What is the concept of interior design?

:Concept of interior design involves bringing an idea into reality through design.

-What type of concept design does nordooks specialize in?

:NORDNOOKS specializes both In residential and commercial spaces with a creative flair. I’ll like to specialize in modern-traditional niche design in the long run.

-Was interior decoration a part of your long term goal?

:I’ve always had a thing for color coordination and furniture layouts. Growing up I wanted to study architecture. It all started with a throw pillow business.

-And did you envision this stage of your life?

:Well,yes… Yes,I’m a dreamer…a big dreamer

-How has the journey been like?

:NGL (not gonna lie) it’s challenging. Not the easiest journey to embark on. Having mentors and an industry coach helped me navigate through.

-Challanges?
:Finding the right clients honestly. I’m yet to break through my desired niche.

-Major win and biggest motivator?
: One Major Win, has to be the physical store which also doubles as my office. Looking back I started with just a shelf where I stacked my throw pillows In a corner of my living room… and now it’s a beautiful decor store.

:Biggest motivator has to be Myself. My Sisters and my friends honestly….even on days when I believe in myself less they remind me how far I’ve come and how much I have ahead of me.

-Do you browse magazines for inspo?

:Yes I do. Magazines made such an impact on my design journey, grew up flipping through pages of BHG, Laura Ashley, Elle decor to name a few.

-Which would you go first for a house, Art gallery, Antique store or Fashion house?

:An antique store most definitely. Love collecting pieces that tell a story. *so in tune with Pearls on the Scene. 👏🏾

-Notice you bank on color boards alot, What’s the color effect on mood and psychology?

:Colors shape how we perceive things. Each color uniquely impacts human behavior and emotion.

-How do you present ideas and concept to clients?

:I mostly try to play by the rules. I go for the 60-30-10 design rule for a well coordinated palette.

Minimalism, is basically de cluttering on default. Only has room for what one would believe is valuable to them. The practice of this lifestyle is to learn to focus on the important things in life. Nature, Art and Humanity. Which Shukrah Firdaus is into.
