BEAUTY PRIVILEGES DOES EXIST. TAP IN!

Beauty privilege is one fashion item that’s never out of trend. I didn’t believe in it, then. It was just another capitalism I believed, of the beauty industry (it still is) but beauty privilege very much exists, and that’s why industries capitalized on it.

I never thought I was a pretty one but really I was. I just never saw it and I am ashamed at myself sometimes for doubting it. Let me tell you something, the day I embraced it all, was the day I knew, hmm money brings happiness don’t listen to Rich people.

My mother has always hammered in looking presentable at anytime. This woman could be dying and still want to dress up. I saw the effect it had on other people around her. It was only wise to learn from the queen. While in my doubt of pretty, I made up for it in dressing up. If you don’t see my beauty, you’d see my art. Dressing up has made people act different towards me.. I do notice it. It’s unfortunate that’s how the world is but then it truly is what it is.

1. If you ever doubt your physical beauty, make up for it in dressing up and dressing well. No one can assure you of your beauty but yourself. No matter how hard they try or lie. So if you must to step out, step out looking chic and fab. Not because of who you’ll meet or be addressed as but because of how you’ll feel. Have you ever wondered why the pretty poeple are given space faster than the bare minimum looking person?

2. The art of smelling nice should be incorporated into your lifestyle. Perfume connisours have a positive image that you’d want to be associated with. See how Turaren Wuta (incense) is penetrating markets. Call it vanity but people who smell nice will be dying to sit close to you because you smell nice. Win – Win. Note: you don’t have to break the bank to smell nice. There are affordable scents out there.

3. Accessories must be very much curated, not to just complete a look but to radiate its details. Earrings, brooches, statement bag, bracelets and so much more between small sizes to big sizes. Pearl necklace is an everyday accessory. It is trendy to both men and women these days. But it’ll always by a Classy item.

4. Moisturize top to bottom. We love to see your skin shine through. Your hands especially; More appealing to shake or hold. Just have a little tube of moisturizer in your bag, it come in handy especially after ablution on a dry day. Also a little tube of lip balm.

Beauty isn’t just physical. It could be found anywhere. As a very pretty shoe, bag, nail color, outfit or hair style.

5. Mani/Pedis could seem minor, due to the fact that we under-rate our hands and feet even though they are the major parts moving us around. Remember how you feel when you see a well manicured hand and pedicured feet, imagine how good it was for your eyes to see something pretty in a non sexual way…

Yeah, apply it to your life to also positively affect others. Unless they are haters 🤷🏿‍♀️, sorry.

6. Smile, you are never fully dressed without a smile. Omo, I know the world is hard right now, but a smiling face amidst resting b!tch faces is really a sight to behold. Unless you are a hater then please, reflect.

7. It’s not all about looks and what we physically see and smell, be it dressing, eye color or scent, but also what we hear. A very polite person could capture your attention that you hear the beauty before you see it. Simple as Please, I am sorry and Thank you, from anybody be it child or adult could leave a lasting impression.

8. Confidence ! yeah that’s right. Chin up, shoulders straight, speak audibly. Cherry in the cake.

Of course these days, what beauty is or could be is being challenged with social media cutting across borders and oceans, photoshop and amazing Kardashian doctors. They say “beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder” but it’s lovely to see us as people diversifying beauty and trying to embrace other people’s standard of beauty. It’s a moment.
